The vaccines made by pathogenic bacterial polysaccharide can effectively address the preven-tion of infectious diseases and avoid the resistance to antibiotics. This kind of vaccines include polysaccharide vac-cines and glycoconjugate vaccines. The discovery of protein glycosylation pathway in bacteria has been evoking the enthusiasm of researchers to develop glycoconjugate vaccines by bio-engineering technology. The research and appli-cation of polysaccharide vaccines and glycoconjugate vaccines were reviewed here.
