Nowadays, The Public Library Law in China has entered into force. It is clearly stipulated in Article 34 that public libraries should be equipped with professional staff in light of the characteristics of minors to provide reading guidance and provide support for extracurricular activities in schools. At the same time, public libraries should provide the facilities and services that meet their needs in the light of the characteristics of persons with disabilities. In practice, the services provided by our public libraries to young readers are not comprehensive enough and need to be improved. As the most developed country in the world, the public libraries in the United States are indeed the leading status in the world in serving minor readers. Through combing the practice of the American public libraries in providing service to the minor readers and drawing on their experience, it is not only beneficial to our public library to serve the minors, but also to the concrete implementation of The Public Library Law in China.%当下,我国《公共图书馆法》已经生效,第34条明确规定,公共图书馆应当结合未成年人的特点配备专业工作人员,开展阅读指导,为学校开展课外活动提供支持.同时,公共图书馆应当结合残疾人的特点,提供符合其需要的设施和服务.实践中,我国公共图书馆为未成年读者提供的服务还不够全面,需要完善.美国作为世界最发达的国家,其公共图书馆为未成年读者提供的服务走在世界最前列.梳理美国公共图书馆为未成年读者提供服务的做法,并借鉴其经验,不仅有利于我国公共图书馆更好地服务于未成年人,更有利于我国《公共图书馆法》的具体落实.
