Firstly, the structure, magnetism and novel half-metallic energy bands of Co-based Heusler alloy are introduced in order to reveal its special electronic and magnetic characteristics, and potential application in magnetic tunneling junctions (MTJs). Moreover, a further discussion about the significance of sp-element doping effect on adjusting electronic structure and stabilizing half-metallicity of Heusler alloys is also provided.
