基于PCI Express总线的xHC与FPGA的直接通信

         

摘要

A direct communication system between xHC(extensible host controller) and FPGA is proposed to solve the transfer and storage issues of high resolution and high frame camera array via PCI Express.The image data could be transferred into processing and storage unit without passing host memory through PCIE peer-topeer data transmission,which greatly simplifies the physical path of data transmission,reduced the data transmission latency and avoided the negative influences of the operating system as well.A PCIE interface was designed to implement the communication between xHC and FPGA based on hard PCIE core.The control and driver task of xHC and the multiple USB cameras that connected to the xHC were completed by FPGA,it could realize the acquisition and transfer of multiple cameras' data.The composite analysis and verification were conducted through dedicated monitor module and Chipscope tool.The result indicates that the system greatly improves the image transmission speed and has strong expansibility.%为了解决高分辨率高帧频摄像头阵列的数据传输和存储问题,提出了一种xHC(USB可扩展主机控制器)通过PCI Express总线与FPGA实现直接通信的系统.利用PCIE点到点数据传输,图像数据无需经过主机内存,即可直接传入后续处理和存储单元,大大简化了数据传输的物理路径,降低了数据的传输延迟,避免了操作系统对数据传输的影响.利用FPGA的PCIE硬核,实现了xHC和PCI Express的通信接口,FPGA通过该接口对xHC和与之相连的多个USB摄像头进行控制和驱动,实现多路图像数据的采集和传输.最后通过专门设计的监测模块和Chipscope抓包工具,对该系统的性能进行了综合分析和验证,验证结果表明,该系统极大地提高了图像传输速度,并具备很高的扩展性能.
