The ancient plaza plan design combined the context with its local environment. This research can become the spiritual wealth of contemporary designers. Based on this point and the perspective of “equilibrium”, this article explored Jacopo Sansovino’s design techniques and concepts during the transformation design of plaza San Marco in Venice with three angles: the axis arrangement, the architectural language and context inheritance, which provided some inspiration to the current plaza design.
