Microwave photonics technology, a new and hot research area, is combined both microwave technologies and photonics technologies. It includes all the advantages of the two kinds of system, for example, the flexibility for the wireless microwave system and the huge communication capacitance, low-losses and electromagnetic interference isolation and so on for photonic systems. The basic concepts and several key techniques are introduced.
