Repetition in Waiting for Godot

摘要

Waiting for Godot is one of the most famous plays written by Samuel Barclay Beckett, and also is the founding work of"Theatre of the Absurd". In the drama, repetitive phenomena shed light on the whole construction considerably. All the characters were helpless and unthinking. Their dialogues were simple, nonsense and repetitive. Two scenes were cyclical. Repetition was used subtly in order to express the theme of the play, showing mental crisis after depravation of WWII.
