Compared with traditional rigid - body rotating apparatus, the air - cushion turntable has many advantages, such as stable data, intuitionistic phenomena, high accuracy, etc. However, the external - moment - free rotation of its movable turnplate will slightly decrease the measurement accuracy. This paper investigates the possible causations that result in such a phenomenon. The theoretical analysis and experimental data indicate that the external - moment - free rotation is likely caused by Coriolis force resulting from earth rotation.
