何以“夫子之言性与天道不可得而闻也”

         

摘要

Human nature and the way of heaven are both two main issues discussed in the Chinese ethics thought history.In the Analects of Confucius,Zi Gong said,“We have never heard of the Confucius’s view on human nature and the way of Heav-en.”which gave a dispute on the forthcoming research.Proving the truth of this sentence through clarifying the dispute in the Chinese thought history and explain the reasons about the few words of the Master on “Human nature and the way of heave”has the positive significance to the study of China ethical thought history.Although the issue of “human nature”is of great im-portance,it is not in the main research of every scholar.“The way of heaven”is a mysterious issue,but it is not necessary for a person who pursuing “bring bountiful benefits and a better life to all the people”as the goal all though his life to give so much attention to the way of heaven.Pay attention to the social reality and Urgent priority with the benevolence in the human educa-tion and thinking is the basic character of the Confucius thought.%“人性”与“天道”均是中国伦理思想史上讨论的主要问题,但《论语》中子贡说“夫子之言性与天道不可得而闻”,这就给后人研究留下了一个颇有争议的话题。厘清研究者在这一问题上的纠缠,进而论证子贡这一论断的真实性并推明孔子少谈“性与天道”问题的特殊理由,对于中国伦理思想史的研究具有积极意义。“人性”问题虽是思想史上的重大问题,但并不一定要成为每个思想家学术思想的中心问题;“天道”是一个玄奥的话题,但对于以“博施于民而能济众”为毕生追求的人来说并不一定要在如此玄奥难明的问题上花费过多的心血。关注社会现实,以当务之为急,以培养人的“仁德”、弘扬“仁道”为思考的中心,是孔子思想的基本品格。
