Dictionaries play a crucial role in language learning. This paper takes "Oxford Advanced Learner's English-Chinese Dictionary" (Extended fourth edition) as an example to discuss the material and content characteristics and to evaluate the com-pilation based on perspectives of syntax and semantics.
