This paper elaborates the main dimension, class notation, lines design, general arrangement as well as loading & unloading sequence optimization of a 300 000 DWT ore carrier. The main factors related to selecting main dimension,such as information of dock & harbor and principal particulars of external similar ore carriers, are described. The quantities of cargo holds and cargo hatches, division of ballast water tanks and distribution of fuel oil tanks are analyzed. Then according to inclining test result of first ship, a comparison of the lightweight between the ships with same tonnage is carried out. Finally, main ship type characteristics of very large ore carrier are summarized.% 论文阐述了30万吨矿砂船的主尺度要素、船级符号、线型设计、总布置和装/卸货程序优化等内容。对与主尺度选取相关的主要参考因素，如码头/港口信息和国外类似船型的主尺度参数等进行了介绍。对货舱及舱口数量的选取、压载水舱的划分和燃油舱的分布等技术难点进行了分析。并根据首制船倾斜试验结果，对该型船空船重量指标进行了对比。最后，根据30万吨矿砂船设计，并参考相关资料，总结了大型矿砂船的主要船型特点。
