本文通过历年数据预测出上海港集装箱吞吐量在未来几十年的发展趋势，并从我国经济发展的要求、国内外港口竞争等方面阐述了建设横沙深水新港的必要性，同时说明了建设横沙深水新港区的可行性。% This article predicts the trends of container throughputs in Shanghai Port for the coming de-cades by analyzing historical data. According to the requirements of Chinese economic development and domes-tic and international ports’competition,the necessity of constructing the Hengsha new deepwater port is ex-pounded. In the meantime,the feasibility of building the Hengsha new deepwater port is stated.
