[language testing]Language testing involves many technologies and developments which are different from language teaching,and yet it interacts closely with most aspectsof language teaching.Traditionally,a distinction between proficiencyyand achievement testing has been drawn:achievement tests assess how successful a learner has been in a course of study,proficiency tests assess a learner's level of language in relation to some absolute scale,or to the specifications of some job which has a language requirement.
