The design material is Inconel 600, one of nickel-based alloys. Welding is one of the key process of manufacturing. When welding this alloy by GTAW, it is easy to appear porosity, oxidation and moderate temperature sensibility. Cleaning before welding, protection high temperature welding bead and control of welding heat input is the key to solve those problems. Compared to SMAW the weld bead beautiful and more resistant to corrosion. This paper briefly introduces the Inconel 600 properties, corrosion resistance, process characteristics. It mainly introduces the GTAW process.
