摘要

A community of practice is a group of persons who share a concern, a set of problems, or a passion about a topic, and who deepen their knowledge and expertise by interacting regularly, either in person or virtually. Communities of practice have been used for many years in the private sector and to a lesser degree in public health. To our knowledge, however, a community of practice has never been used to build public health capacity for a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) public health surveillance program. In this , we discuss how CDC’s National Syndromic Surveillance Program Community of Practice (NSSP CoP) is proving to be a promising approach for building state and local public health capacity in syndromic surveillance.
