摘要

Current preoperative risk assessment tools are often cumbersome, have limitedaccuracy, and are poorly adopted. The Care Assessment Need (CAN) score, anexisting tool developed for primary care providers in the U.S. VeteransAdministration health-care system (VA), is automatically calculated forindividual patients using electronic health record data. Therefore, it couldpresent an efficient preoperative risk assessment tool. The aim of thisproject was to determine if the CAN score can be repurposed as apreoperative risk assessment tool for patients undergoing total kneearthroplasty (TKA).
