The definition of textiles is no longer solely hemmed in by the applications of clothing and domestic fabrics. Today, the textile arena has progressed astonishingly, encompassing immense applications that were not even imagined before. The emerging trends of nano-facilitated textiles, intelligent clothing, fibretronics, and many other crucial applications are the nucleus of latest research and innovation. The Textile Engineering Department of NED University of Engineering & Technology (NED), Karachi, Pakistan, realized the needfulness of academia's and textile professional's awareness of these emerging trends. Thus, the university's First International Textile Conference 2014 (NED-ITC), in collaboration with AATCC, was organized and held on March 13, 2014.
