摘要

The main aim of this study is to substitute conventional cotton pretreatment processes with biotechnological methods that can reduce the environmental impact of the textile industry. Three different processes were developed and, in the first two-step semi-continuous process, a reduction of temperature and water consumption was achieved. The use of an amylase along with a pectinase has further reduced the enzymatic processing time in an alternative two-step semi-continuous process. When a thermostable amylase was used, simultaneous desizing, scouring, and bleaching were possible at high temperature in a single step continuous process. Catalase immobilization on the biodegradable polymer chitosan has allowed reuse of this enzyme in an optimized bleaching bath formulation.
