Calibration is vital for instrumental color evaluation. And accurate measurement of textile color requires calibration with a textile standard. Fluorescent whitening agents (FWAs) in textiles are different from those in plastics and other materials. Using a textile material as the primary UV energy calibration reference standard (instead of the white plaque supplied with your spectropho-tometer) improves inter-instrument agreement for textile measurements.
