Firestop Chemicals is an independent, privately-owned company formed in 1999 that manufactures phosphorus-based flame retardants, primarily for natural textiles. According to its commercial director, Peter Flanagan, Firestop's core product, Noflan, "is a cleaner alternative in the wool sector to the Zirpro technology. In the cotton sector, Noflan has an easy-to-apply finish which, when combined with the appropriate binder, will give flame retardancy up to 24-wash durability at 40C."
