摘要

A superabsorbing fleece fabric, developed by BASF and IQTex, keeps feet dry and comfortable even in rain and puddles. The superabsorbant polymers in the fleece are cross-linked polyacrylates that can absorb and bind up to 500 times their weight. The moisture-binding system can also absorb and then release moisture and humidity. When the fleece gets wet, it expands to self-seal, staying watertight even under high pressure. When the material integrated into the sole of the shoe dries, it regains breathability. IQTex says the Vayu Verde technology (marketed by BASF as Luquafleece) is also suitable for use in jackets, gloves, tents, helmets, sports accessories, electronic devices, and medical products. It is currently being used for office chairs and protective clothing.
