Unifi's recycled polyester yarn facility will soon have its 15 minutes of fame. Segments of the TV show How It's Made, showing how Repreve yarn is made from post-industrial and post-consumer waste, were taped for airing next year. Repreve yarn was selected as an example of sustainable textiles. Robert Morselli, director of research for the show explains, "Global sustainability is an issue that people are becoming increasingly aware of...some organizations have taken the lead in promoting awareness of global sustainability by educating consumers...I have identified Unifi and Repreve as examples of these corporate leaders; this is why we have selected them to participate in the taping of a How It's Made episode." The show has also featured the production process for other textile products, from suits to carbon fiber cellos.
