You cannot imagine how excited I was when I heard that I was being considered for your scholarship. When I heard I was selected I was proud and humbled at the same time. The Charles E. Gavin, III scholarship has given me the opportunity to pursue my dreams of higher education and a life full of Chemistry. I am writing you this letter to express my sincere thanks for the opportunity that your family has given me. This scholarship will allow me to further my knowledge of the world around me and the ties that bind it. Currently I am reading "Molecules at an Exhibition: Portraits of Intriguing Materials in Everyday Life," by John Emsley; a wonderful book on how chemicals and the items around us interact. Chemistry is a way of life for me and I look forward to studying Chemical Engineering at Auburn University. As an incoming Freshman I look forward to the next four years of education and can think of no better place than Auburn University to continue my educational career.
