摘要

March 2008-AATCC President Martin Bide and Jack Daniels, AATCC executive vice president, visited India for the Annual Technical Lecture Program of the AATCC India section. Martin was also the second president to inaugurate a section in India-the "Kongu Section" in the South of India. This article is not a report on what Jack and Martin did in their official capacities. Instead, it tells a story of what I call "the play that is part of the work!" I felt that it was necessary that Jack and Martin see the India that was beyond AATCC. They were to arrive on the 17th in the early morning, around 1:30 a.m. (for some reason, all flights in and out of India always arrive and depart at some unearthly hour). Jack and Martin arrived happily-until they deplaned at the chaotic Bangalore Airport. Bangalore Airport was designed to handle some 10 flights a day. Today, it is the third busiest airport in India, handling several hundred flights a day, with no change to the terminal building.
