Resist printing is one of the earliest forms of textile enrichment. Wax printing is an excellent example of resist printing, where the pattern is obtained by applying wax and then dyeing the fabric. Later the wax has to be removed. In the past, it was known and practiced as a native craft in south-east India, Europe, China, and parts of Africa. Due to its small scale production, pollution problems did not raise much concern.
