Thee worldwide market for textile dyes and chemicals is worth an estimated US10-12 billion per year,and currently is growing in volume by up to 3% annually.Yet there is increasing concern among the leading multinational producers of these products as they see severe pressure on prices.Many observers are worried that the mergers and liaisons of the recent past may prove to be merely the precursors of a more traumatic shake-out.The problem is deep-seated,and is related to the accelerating eastwards shift of textile industry manufacturing capacity.
