Instrumental comfort tests do not seem to identify hand differences that are perceived by human evaluators. As perceived by humans, 100% cotton sheets are softer, smoother, and have an overall nicer hand than 50/50 cotton/polyester sheets. In addition, the hand of cotton-rich sheets is preferred to the hand of a 50/50 cotton/polyester blend.
