Cotton fabrics scoured with various enzymes (pectinase, lipase, protease, and cellulase) and caustic were compared. The pectinase-scoured fabrics showed the same whiteness as the caustic-scoured fabrics, while the lipase/protease/cellulase-scoured fabrics produced slightly different results than the pectinase- and caustic-scoured fabrics. After scouring, the lipase/protease/cellulase-scoured woven fabrics lost the most weight.
