This paper explores the accuracy and repeatability of the AutoRate smoothness rating system based on previous work done at the University of Texas-Austin to develop a simple, easy-to-use instrumental system to grade fabric smoothness. AutoRate is an evaluation system that as-signs smoothness grades to fabric specimens.
