When I saw the movie, Thelma and Louise, more than 20 years ago, I half cried and half cheered at the ending. I loved the movie for breaking boundaries, for demonstrating courage on the part of both the actors and the screenwriter, and for telling an engrossing story that moved its viewers affectively as well as intellectually. The movie succeeded (for me, at least) in making Geena Davis and Susan Sarandon, the stars, equivalent to Paul Newman and Robert Redford in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, not the easiest feat to accomplish.
