In a recent issue of Academy of Management Learning and Education (Edmondson, 2010), I reviewed Walter Earl Fluker's book. Ethical Leadership: The Quest for Character, Civility, and Community. Fluker draws on the moral traditions of the African American community to develop a model of ethical leadership. In the review, I sought to answer two questions: (1) Can Ethical Leadership be used in management courses, leadership training, and in management practice to better understand and integrate ethical issues, and (2) Can it help to fill a void for classrooms with diverse students? I determined that the answer to both questions was "yes." However, I noted the challenge in using Fluker's work as a resource in management courses: It can be tedious to read.
