摘要

Advancing Business Ethics in Education is a collection of articles providing a range of moral, philosophical, practical, and empirical justifications and models for business ethics in higher education. The text, to a large extent, is a reaction to the earlier accounting scandals of Enron, WorldCom, Arthur Anderson and others-but is also extremely timely given the current financial meltdown, fueled in large part by the ethical failures of our financial sector. The moral dilemma as outlined by Frederick in chapter 2 helps to capture the central question plaguing business schools today: "Are business schools complicit in the corporate crimes committed by their graduates?" (25). The overwhelming response from the various authors is that, yes, business schools do in fact have an obligation to at least address ethics education in their respective programs. Toward that end, most authors support the best practice of a stand-alone course on ethics as well as an integrative curriculum that reinforces ethics throughout business disciplines. The assumption is that by addressing these issues head on, business schools will at least meet their public policy obligations and hopefully even influence future business leaders to consider the ethical implications of their decisions on various stakeholder interests.
