Payroll isn't what it used to be - and for many of today's firms, that's a good thing. Enhanced technology, a complex regulatory environment, and an opportunity for adjacent services are changing how many accounting professionals view and approach payroll processing. Research has shown that 22 percent of accounting professionals are looking to grow their payroll practice, while another 70 percent are looking to maintain it, noted Chris Rush, division vice president of strategy and business development for ADP's Small Business Services Division, citing a March 2016 report from research conducted by ADP in partnership with Accounting Today. "If you don't offer it, you are really missing out on an opportunity for that additional, recurring revenue to really strengthen those relationships. Now is the time. It is never too late to get into the service," Rush said.
