That's likely to be the overriding theme this coming tax season as tax preparers grapple with the growing threat of identity theft and a greater emphasis on due diligence amid what is, otherwise, expected to be a relatively uneventful season. "Everything is primed to make it a smooth season for those who are willing to do their due diligence in advance. The good news is that there isn't as rocky of a regulatory environment as we've seen in some years past and not much by way of uncertainty," said Jordan Kleinsmith, product manager of tax at Thomson Reuters.
