Lake Wylie, S.C.-based CPA firm Bordeaux & Bordeaux has been operating in the cloud for about 10 years, and last summer firm partner Donna Bordeaux decided to take her firm on the road - literally. Determined to not let work get in the way of a family vacation, Bordeaux grabbed her MacBook, iPad and iPhone and headed out with her family for a 32-day road trip from South Carolina to Wyoming's Yellowstone National Park. Using the hotspot feature on her phone, Bordeaux was able to access the Internet in most locations along the way, which is really all you need when you're in the cloud. She didn't have a set schedule during those 32 days, but would answer e-mails while on the road or when an urgent matter arose. "We maintained service to all of our clients and, from their perspective, they couldn't even tell that we were gone," she said. "We went on a journey and we weren't physically in the office for a whole month. So it shows what type of practice you can have if you need flexibility."
