In most accounting practices, tax return preparation is one of those things that never seem to end. Even though April 15 is the official filing target of Form 1040, there are extensions, and other returns, such as corporate, partnership, and others, that may have different filing dates depending on the client. One other thing about tax prep is that it's almost a truism that no one is 100 percent satisfied with their tax software. Chances are excellent that most preparers will tell you that there are things they wish the software would do better. This uncertainty, the nagging feeling that another vendor's offering might make the process easier, is one of the major reasons why tax prep software vendors spend so much money on advertising. And while most practices don't play musical chairs every time it comes to filling out a return or adding another class of return to their capabilities, enough do so that vendors continue to laud their capabilities.
