The Financial Accounting Foundation named Candace Wright as the next chair of the Private Company Council. A director with Top 100 Firm Postlethwaite & Netter-ville, Wright will succeed the founding chair, Billy Atkinson, when his term ends on Dec. 31, 2015, and serve a three-year term. In addition to serving as service line leader for P&N's Assurance Services Group and as the firm's quality control director, she leads its Financial Institutions Industry Group and peer review services. She also serves on the Financial Accounting Standards Board's Small Business Advisory Committee. Public accounting firms hired the largest number of accounting graduates ever last year, according to a report from the American Institute of CPAs. Enrollments in undergraduate and graduate accounting programs also increased in the 2013-14 academic year, crossing the 250,000 mark for the first time. On the recruiting side, the record number of accounting graduates hired by accounting firms in 2014 represented a 7 percent increase from the previous survey, according to the 2015 Trends in the Supply of Accounting Graduates and Demand for Public Accounting Recruits report.
