The American Institute of CPAs' Minority Initiatives Committee has received the 2009 Diversity Section Excellence Award from the American Accounting Association. Candidates are evaluated based on the achievement and high level of success that may include public service in an area related to the individual's professional area and responsibilities, professional service, and service activities to the AAA and the Diversity Section.rnThe MIC won the award for its longstanding commitment to assisting under-represented minorities in becoming CPAs through programs including student scholarships, leadership development programs, advertising campaigns and the support of efforts by strategic partners, including the National Association of Black Accountants and the Association of Latino Professionals in Finance and Accounting.
