Sage Software has decided to hand over its online payroll services to CompuPay, a rapidly growing company that claims to be among the top five payroll service providers. Sage's payroll "continued to grow faster this year than anything by far," says Karl Grass, Sage's VP. But Grass said that the company believed the investment required would yield a better return elsewhere. Most of the Sage payroll employees were expected to be hired by Miramar, Fla.-based CompuPay. Deltek, which makes financial software for project-oriented companies, has agreed to buy the MPM division of Plainviewfor about $16 million in cash.
