Vendors and CPAs go hand-in-hand. Take this example. A particular software system announced a partnership with one of the nation's top CPA firms to provide a CPA-specific, hosted version of the software company's popular document management software. The product would supply CPAs with a firm-wide, Web-based solution for electronically storing, managing, and distributing tax and audit documents, production reports, existing PC files, and e-mails, to name a few. The fit was a perfect one for both organizations as the partnership helped create a better product and service model than any in the CPA market. Why? Because the CPA firm also helped the software company to customize the product for the CPA market and securely hosted the software and store user documents at the firm's data management facility. What this also did was to improve clients' services by eliminating paper shuffle and decreasing paper and IT costs. The system also integrated smoothly into existing business applications such as tax and audit engagement software as well as billing, accounting, and practice management programs.
