Integration has always been the key to the paperless office. In fact, one could say that it is a basic need. It is one thing to have everything you need in an electronic format; it is another to have all those critical pieces in one, easy-to-access place. This is particularly true when it comes to research and compliance information where the alternative to having a true integrated solution is to keep switching from one online resource to another to make sure you are covered. I have heard of practitioners literally keeping checklists of sources to make sure they are always checking the right resources. Even with their checklists, they can always count on that one 3 a.m., heart-pounding hour or two where they wonder, "Did I really check everything?" And guess what? They didn't.
