摘要

From the audit of the e-journals and databases described above, a total of 10 separate database subscriptions with vendors (containing 21 databases) were discontinued or adjusted during 2015 and 2016. This, along with the cancellation of all individual e-journal subscriptions, contributed to a substantial reduction in total expenditures at a time when the Library was experiencing budgetary challenges. The review was intense and, to a large extent, reactive to the swift change in existing funds for Library resources. Some of the choices by SML were necessary but difficult and, in a handful of cases, unpopular with the patrons especially because the changes were implemented in a relatively short period of time. SML is confident, however, that it was able to cut expenditures without reneging on its mission to the University community; and so, despite the cancellations, the Library has maintained arrangements to provide adequate resources to satisfy the program needs of the Campus.
