According to the editor, Andy Tattersall, this book has two main objectives: to provide both practical and theoretical information regarding the topic of altmetrics. Altmetrics is a word that many have heard of but few understand; it is the use of research artefact-level metrics on scholarly formats like journal articles, book chapters, posters, and data sets, and it is an alternative indicator, more highly responsive layer added to traditional research metrics.
