摘要

Librarians have been creating library instruction tutorials for decades. Early tutorials were simply printed handouts that explained how to search the library catalog or a particular database. Later, these same tutorials were moved to the Web and often were enhanced with graphics images. Today, many librarians are struggling to keep up with providing just-in-time help and training for the hundreds of resources typically offered at a library. Screencasts are an excellent way to provide dynamic library instruction in a digital format. A screencast is a visual digital recording, typically with audio narration, that shows viewers information about a particular subject. With a screencast, the creator displays what is actually happening on the screen (i.e., the snapshots of the software interface or of relevant web pages, rather than showing a video of a person working in front of a computer).
