摘要

Today, irrespective of our backgrounds in various disciplines and sub-disciplines of social sciences, we all agree on the basic premise that the social phenomena we aim to investigate are complex. Moreover, almost all of us subscribe to the idea that each social inquiry at hand is a peculiar one, as it inevitably involves high levels of complexity, uncertainty, and displays distinguished characteristics. In other words, there seems to be a consensus on the very idea that we should go beyond universal laws and all-encompassing rules that are often mistakenly utilised to settle our wisdom once and for all, to be able to appreciate the temporal and spatial dimensions of a social inquiry.
