摘要

Nature provides a huge range of examples of precise and efficient self-assembly processes, such as DNA with its functionalities of replication and transcription in biological systems. Inspired by this, scientists have been applying themselves to design and develop structurally defined materials with unprecedented properties and intriguing functions. In view of the dynamic and reversible nature of noncovalent interactions, supramolecular polymers not only show traditional polymeric properties, but also possess new structures and functions, such as degradability, stimuli-responsiveness, and self-healing, making them exceptional candidates for adaptive or smart materials.
