Lithium-enriched nickel manganese oxides (represented by either Li_((1-2x)/3)Ni_xMn_((1-x)/3)O_2 or xLi_2MnO_3·(1-x)LiMO_2, where M is a transition metal or a mixture of transition metals) have been extensively studied as a promising cathode material for the Li-ion battery system to be introduced into plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) or all-electric vehicles (Evs).
