摘要

Structural colors exist abundantly in nature, ranging from the vibrant blue color of certain butterflies (Morpho rhetenor) ,to the angle dependent colors of beetles,and to natural opals. They are also called physical colors, referring to the fact that they originate from physical periodic nano-structures (photonic structures) that alter the way light travels at different dimensions. Such is in distinction to chemical colors that rely on the absorption of certain wavelength lights by pigment molecules.
