Inkjet printing (IJP) is one of the most promising methods for controlled deposition of small amounts of organic semiconductors (OSC) and other functional materials. It is applicable to large-area processing, compatible with flexible substrates, and can be adapted to high-throughput manufacturing processes such as roll-to-roll printing techniques. IJP of soluble OSC is intensively investigated, for example, to fabricate thin-film transistors (TFTs). The OSC is typically inkjet printed from a low viscous ink on a surface that does not absorb the ink. Surface interactions, ink spreading and drying critically determine the exact position and morphology of the resulting semiconductor film, and thereby the electrical performance. To print well-defined patterns, spreading of the inks is usually steered by making local patterns on the substrate. One approach is to define banks of organic insulating materials on the substrate that concentrate the ink into defined areas.
