Fracturing fluids play a crucial role on coalbed methane (CBM) well fracturing. Coal Petrography generally has characteristics of tiny matrix pore, high specific surface area, strong adsorption ability and low temperature. Fracturing operations of methane coalbed require that the fracturing fluids be completely compatible with both coalbed and coal seam fluid, thus, the fracturing fluid should be clean and have quick and complete gel-breaking at low temperature. This study focuses on CBM well environment typical of North China (Huabei) Oilfield, Sinopec Jincheng in Shanxi Province. It optimized the formulation of basic clean fracturing fluid adaptable to CBM Well fracturing using viscoelastic quaternary ammonium surfactant (1.0%~1.4%), accelerating agent (1.5%~2.5%) and inorganic salt (1.5%). It also evaluated the fundamental performance of the fluid with a low coal temperature environment gel-breaker system and proposed a composite gel-breaker consisting of 0.05% lauryl alcohol and 0.08% OP-10 for effective performance in the fracturing fluid.
